Retailers expect PS3 to get the Wii kicked out of it

Retailers have given the thumbs down to the PS3 and are expecting the Sony console to be soundly beaten up by Nintendo's Wii. A survey of retailers conducted by the Japanese media outfit Enterbrain shows that 88 percent think that the Wii will sell better over the Christmas break, only 11 percent believe the PS3 will be tops. Since this is a Japanese survey they didn’t even bother asking if they thought the Xbox 360 would go anywhere.
Out of all hardware sales, 60.7 percent Nintendo DS would be the best seller, followed by the the Nintendo Wii at 32.8 percent. The PS3 would be outclassed by the PS2 at 3.3 percent. The PS3 and the Xbox360 will have 1.6 percent each, which shows how bad it is going to get for Sony in Japan.

There's only going to be 100,000 PS3s in Japan compared to 10 times that amount for the Wii. It's no surprise they expect the Wii to sell better.

several thousands of people...and so will you once you play one on an hdtv

it's going to be awesome. but you think $600 is bad, look at the hardcore pc gamers that spend $2500 on a glorious, super-fast, graphically perfect computer. THAT is outrageous in my eyes...

yes, but on PC's u can search the web, and play many more games then the games on a console..

and what do ya' know, u can search the web with the wii..

This was a Japanese poll. I think that PS3 will do much better in America, especially since us Americans like the flashy shiney objects. I know I do. I'm still going with the Wii tho. The remote is shiney and flashy too

But your missing one Crucal factor here. Japan is all about Flashy Shiney things. Their economy is based on their Technology and their ability to make new innovative products. Sure there are many other factors to their economy but the big one is technology.

Japanese people like shiney things to. As much as Americans. Alot of PS2 owners don't like the price set up by Sony. I talked with 3 of them today and they are preferring to get a Wii or 360 rather than the PS3 when it is released because of the cost. Sure there are the diehards out there but the average Sony fanboy will wait for it to go down in price.

ive been to japan and boy does it make western countries look like 3rd world countries.

anyway this is how i see it, theres just as many nintendo fanboys vs sony fan boys if you ask me, all nintendo fanboys love the wii so they will get it, but i know alot of sony fanboys that are going to get the wii because of ps3s price, so to me that means sony lost

anyway even if ps3 does great, i bet you the same person will prob get a wii aswell.
